Last November, I had this chance to dine with friends at Barrakz, one of the newest resto-bar in the Metro. It’s located along Timog Avenue, near Imperial Palace Suites Hotel. If I recall correctly, it was opened last September and owned by Kapuso Stars Jaya and Allan K., along with Dennis Trillo, Katrina Halili, etc. as co owners.
(Note: it was once seen in one of GMA’s short films this December)
Some of my friends from the igma.tv forums got the chance to eat there so todo ang pang i inggit sa akin ng mga hitad. Good thing the mom of a celebrity friend of ours gave us a treat during our semestral break, dinner at Barrakz. Supposedly meryenda but we’ve learned that they open at 5 or 6PM on Weekdays because they usually have greater number of customers on weekends.
To be honest, hindi ko siya napansin agad, kasi I thought it was an old building. But once you take a closer look at it, it really looks like a Military barracks. The manong guard is generous, he even assisted us as we parked tita’s car. I was really fascinated to what I saw inside, para ka talagang nakapasok sa loob ng Military area. The blue lights on the floor gave a dim illumination which added a very masculine touch doon sa loob. Hindi ko napansin at first na hindi pala pantay yung pagkaka cement sa floor, so nung kumakain na kami, lately ko na lang na notice because the tables were wobbly.
My comment on their menu? It’s great! I love their Carbonara(though mas masarap pa rin ang gawa ko), sisig and calamares, served with a bottle of ice cold Vodka Cruiser Blue. A fellow forumer/blogger of mine told me that she loved another pasta entree from their menu, I forgot lang the name. Their tapa is a bestseller too, kasi it’s not that makunat and it’s really tangy. Share ko lang din, their bottled water were distributed by the Water business owned by our friend Dennis Trillo’s family.
On the other hand, I’ve noticed na medyo mabagal ang service nila, and some of their drinks are kinda mahal din. Siguro yung ang dapat na i improve sa kanila. And they really need to do promotions, if not commercials kasi hindi talaga pansinin yung labas ng Barrakz. But still, you guys should try going here, because the food is great, the ambiance is really cool and there’s a dance floor waiting for you on the second floor.
